The finely potted bowls have steeply rounded sides and slightly inturned barbed rim. The centre of each is painted with the well known bird-on-rock and moon motif below to fruiting peach sprays on the wall. The outside is painted with a continuous scene of a river landscape with a further bird on rock near plants and flying birds. The body is moulded with vertical ridges separating the walls in segments.

A very similar but smaller bowl from the Troesch Collection is illustrated by Rinaldi (1) and is classified as typical Shape IV.2
Like this Troesch bowl most of them are about 8-10 cm.
The present bowl is of larger size and much rarer.

Similar bowls are not very common in Western or Far Eastern collections, though the Topkapi Saray has many of them.
