BF119 A fine blue and white Ming style saucer dish


Yongzheng period (1723-1735)

The shallow dish has spreading sides and is supported on a slightly tapering foot.
The interior is decorated in a strong cobalt blue with a central roundel of a stylized lotus head wreathed in leafy stems within a double line border.
The reverse is painted in the typical Ming style with four open blooms of gardenia growing from a leafy scrolling stem. The base is inscribed with a Ming Xuande six-character mark within a double circle.
