WF 84 A rootwood brushrest of Damo

十九世紀 木根隨形達摩筆架

19th century

The brushrest is carved following the original shape of the knotted wood with natural holes, forming the figure of Damo. The monk is seated reclining against a rock, clad and partly enveloped in long robes. His right hand is resting on his leg, his foot protruding from his trouser leg. His right hand is holding a gourd.
The head and smiling face are well detailed with bushy eyebrows and curly beard. The gnarled wood has a warm shiny patination.

時代：19世紀。
特徵：筆架依天然原木造型雕刻成達摩外觀，其上保留自然節眼。達摩面帶微笑，身著長袍，手持葫蘆，倚石而坐。其面容細節豐富，濃眉捲鬚清晰可見。木質呈溫暖的亮古銅色。
