Ming dynasty, 16th-17th century
The drinking vessel is in the form of a yi, a pouring jug of asymmetrical form resting on three cabriole feet. The handle is in the form of a ram's head and a similar handle is set on one of the sides. It is cast in relief below the rim with an archaistic border of a stylised animal and geometric pattern.
The whole is covered with areas of an attractive reddish-brown patina.
