Early Ming dynasty, 15th/16th century
The compressed globular body is covered overall with a glaze of greenish-olive tone. The exterior is carved in crisp relief with a band of large peony heads growing from a leafy scrolling stem above a narrow border of petals encircling the short tapered foot. The rim and base are unglazed with areas which have fired dark orange.
