The deity with smiling bearded face is standing wearing long robes carved with a shou character. He is holding a peach branch over his shoulder. The transparent stone is of yellowish tone with brownish inclusions
Height 20.5 cm; the figure is affixed to the wood stand

Provenance: An old Dutch private collection acquired in the 1930s

Comparable rock crystal carvings depicting Shoulao are in the Taft Museum, Cincinnati, Ohio, and illustrated in the catalogue 'The Taft Museum, Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art', New York 1995, pp. 686-690
