S42 An inside-painted snuff bottle

1897年 馬少宣作 玻璃內畫鼻煙壺

Signed Ma Shaoxuan and dated ding you year corresponding to 1897

The bottle is of rounded rectangular shape, one side painted with a river landscape showing a fisherman in a boat rowing towards a fenced house below willow and wutong tree, mountains in the far distance.
The other side with a thirty-two-character inscription preceded by the cyclical date and followed by the artist's signature and seal
Height 6 cm

The translation may read as follows:
Beginning of summer of the dingyou year. There are several houses in verdant hills and blue waters. On the green moss, there are pine trees and a winding stone path. The friend I am waiting for has not returned to his home yet. I am waiting for him while the flowers areblooming in the garden

時代：丁酉年，1897年。
特徵：壺身呈邊角圓潤之方形，其中一側描繪河岸景觀，可見一漁人划船駛向位於柳樹與梧桐樹下的一幢小屋。另一側有藝術家的簽印及題字：「丁酉孟夏 青山綠水幾人家 碧蘚蒼松石徑斜 偏是主翁歸未得 等閒開盡一園花 作於京師 馬少宣」。
