MFE 09 A Dehua figure of Guanyin

The goddess is seated on a rockwork base with the right hand resting on her raised knee, the left hand concealed below the long flowing robes extending to a cowl. The figure is covered in a creamy-white glaze.
14.7 cm high   

Provenance: Formerly in a British private collection  

A very similar Guanyin was exhibited at Marchant and illustrated in Blanc de Chine, London, 2006, catalogue. no. 10. Another similar figure is illustrated in John Ayers, Blanc de Chine, Divine Images in Porcelain, New York, 2002, pl. 26. A further example inscribed with a date corresponding to 1629 is illustrated in Donnelly, Blanc de Chine, London 1969, pl. 71B.
