S94 A carved quartzite finger citron snuff bottle

十九世紀 石英巧雕佛手柑鼻煙壺

19th century

The bottle is naturalistically carved in the form of a fingor citron utilizing the darker areas to highlight the stalk and leaves and a smaller fruit issuing from the stalk. The stone is of beige-yellow colour shading to caramel brown.
Height 6.1 cm; coral stopper

The Chinese word for 'finger citron' or 'Buddha's Hand' citron,foshou, 佛手 is a pun for 'blessings and longevity' fushou 福壽.

時代：19世紀。
特徵：壺身巧妙地雕刻成佛手柑造型，並運用原石英色澤較暗之處突顯果實的莖葉。通體色澤由莖葉處的焦糖棕色漸層至果柑的米黃色。佛手諧音寓意「福壽」。
尺寸：高6.1公分；珊瑚頂蓋。
