Kangxi (1662-1722)
The chrysanthemum-shaped bowl has fluted steeply rounded sides and is painted in the in the interior with a central roundel of sea shells, a flowerhead and flames amongst crested waves below a border of butterflies and flower sprays encircling the multi-lobed rim. The exterior is painted with eight panels, two of Antiquities, two of white lotus scrolls reserved on an iron-red ground, two of a river landscaoe in gilt on a powder-blue ground and two in blue and white of butterfly and a bird on a flowering branch . The base has a double line circle.

A chrysanthemum-shaped dish with identical decoration is in the Groninger Museum and illustrated by Christiaan J.JÖrg in 'Famille Verte, Chinese Porcelain in Green enamels', Lier, 2011, pl 57, where the author remarks that 'this dish showcases the virtuosity of the porcelain producer, who used various decorative techniques in different media for which three kiln firings were needed'
