Spanning a thousand years, this richly illustrated volume comprises one hundred items of Chinese ceramics, works of art, textiles and paintings, all featuring boys. The author aims to demonstrate the traditional importance of male offspring in China. Each object is extensively researched and described within its historical, cultural and religious context, with an emphasis on elucidating the overt or hidden symbolism in the designs.
The complete Hundred Boys collection will be auctioned by the London auction house Roseberys during Asian Art Week in London on 4 November 2025.
