A blue overlay glass snuff bottle

19th century

The oval bottle is carved through the sapphire-blue layer to the milky bubble-suffused ground on each main side with various antiquities including archaic vessels, books and scrolls. The narrow sides are decorated with elongated mask-and-ring handles. The stopper is made of coral with a small jade finial.
