A small soapstone carving

18th – 19th century

The smooth stone is skilfully worked in the form of a curved bamboo trunk, two stems and a bamboo shoot. The trunk is further rendered in low relief with bamboo leaves growing from a thin stem. The stone is of caramel tone with a fine polish.
