A bronze spearhead

Eastern Zhou – Warring States period (4th - 3rd century BC)

The blade is of elongated triangular section with sharp edges cast with a sunken conforming lappet. The tapering socket is cast with further archaic motifs and flanked by two angular loops. The surface shows extensive malachite encrustation.

Angele Louise Maggi-Spaulding (1924-2005) was the granddaughter of Julius Maggi (1846-1912), founder of the Maggi seasoning and soup concern.
