
A famille-verte libation cup
Kangxi period (1662-1722)
The cup is modelled after an archaic bronze form, yi, with an aubergine-glazed strap handle flanked by two well-modelled blue and green chilong. The sides are decorated with taotie masks in bright blue enamel on a stippled green ground below a diaper border. There are two further chilong applied below the lipped mouth.
