A carved Qingbai bowl

Southern Song dynasty (1127-1279)

The bowl with rounded spreading sides is supported on a short foot and is freely carved on the exterior with four-petalled flower heads growing from a scrolling stem. The bowl is covered with a transparent pale bluish glaze. The rim is left unglazed.
