A small junyao-glazed dish

Yuan dynasty (1279-1368)

The shallow dish with slightly convex center and petal-lobed rim is covered with a pale blue glaze pooling in between the mushroom-coloured folds at the rim. The dish is decorated with a single splash of purplish red and light blue colour. The glaze stops unevenly around the slightly flaring foot leaving part of the underside and the base unglazed.

12 cm diameter

A dish of similar form, also with gold lacquer repairs at the rim, formerly in the Size Yuan Tang Collection, was sold at Bonhams London, November 2017, lot 36.
