A painted pottery ‘cocoon’ jar

Western Han dynasty (206 BC – AD 9)

The compressed rounded jar has a circular waisted neck and spreading foot and is painted in red, white and bluish-grey pigments with vertical bands of swirling cloud motifs.

24.5 cm high
