A blue and white jar and cover

Kangxi period (1662-1722)

The deep jar is of cylindrical form and is painted around the exterior in bright shades of blue with two shaped panels enclosing antiquities including flower vases, scrolls, incense implements, a chess board and symbols. The two panels are divided by stylised clouds. The domed cover is painted with further antiquities and is set with a circular flaring rim that acts as a knop. The interior of the jar and cover is glazed white.
