A blue and white Ko-sometsuke dish

Tianqi period (1620-1628)

The dish is of square form with steep sides and a flat everted rim. The interior is painted in the centre with a scholar in a landscape, two boats floating in the water and a small house further ashore. The cavetto is decorated with floral branches. The rim with a scrolling border underneath a blue wash. The reverse is decorated with stylised weeds.
