A blue and white bowl

Kangxi period (1662-1722)

 

The bowl with rounded sides and everted rim is painted around the exterior is in various tones of blue with two pairs of descending phoenixes interspersed with two umbrellas and sprays of peony. The rim is painted is painted on either side with further peony sprays and the interior with a central medallion enclosing a phoenix amidst peony.
